With up to 2,500 sunshine hours in Vietnam’s sunniest regions, efficient solar photovoltaic technology is key to meeting the rising electricity demand. The fast-developing country is on the brink of severe power shortages. The ongoing solar projects are consistent with the government’s strategy and vision for renewable energy and will reduce reliance on power transmitted from remote power plants. Hau Giang, along with other provinces in the Mekong Delta region, wants to be a part of this sustainable development with eyes on the environment, economy, and society.
Halcom Vietnam Joint Stock Company appointed COWI to prepare the comprehensive tender documents for the 35 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) plant as well as its corresponding step-up substation and the 110 kV gen-tie line. The plant is to be situated on 35 ha former agricultural land in the Hau Giang province in Southern Vietnam.
The plant will produce approximately 50,000 MWh annually and play an important role in strengthening the supply side of the energy equation in Vietnam.
